I was going to purchase an Oreck since it's light weight and came with a canister/hand held vacume that I really need. Then I noticed the Hoover Platinum had the same set with same canister/hand held. So I decided to buy both and test them to decide which one I would be keeping.

I bought the Oreck XL Classic Power Team for $299
Once both products arrived I got them out of the box I was shocked. It was easy to see which one had more quality and options. I figured since they were both purchased at the same price they would be close to the same quality and options.
The Oreck: I was a little bummed and even felt a little cheated. The unit is very flimsy and looked cheap. It was much smaller then it looked on TV. Also, there is NO place to store the attachments or cord. The hoses were flimsy too. The only good thing I could pull was how lightweight it is. Which is a given when the unit is so tiny and doesn't carry it's attachments.
The Hoover: It's a beautiful unit. Smooth and very sturdy black and platinum plastic that's really lightweight. The long cord and attachments had places to store everything on the unit. It was super easy to get to the bag. If you accidentally suck something up it will be easy to find it. The shoulder strap was comfortable and with the extension I was able to reach EVERYWHERE. I love the extension hose that slides with just a button push. That hose alone has helped my back pain when I clean. This is a lightweight, sturdy unit that gets the job done.
Warranty: Hoover has a 6 year warranty. The Oreck has a 1 year.
I saw absolutely no good reason to give back the Hoover and keep the Oreck. You are getting tons of quality good things that you do not get with the Oreck and yet you are paying the same price. I don't see why people would want to buy the Oreck with the Platinum available. Especially with a 6 year warranty to back it up.
That is why I made my choice and I have been happily cleaning my home ever since. Hope this review was helpful!
