This vacuum works very nicely when it's working. But it has a very weak clear plastic under carrige piece that breaks very easily! And we have been very careful with it too. I had to replace mine about 6 or 7 months after buying it. Thank goodness it was under warranty. The authorized repairman told me that it is a part that he replaces way to often. He said it's just a weak part and should be made stronger. He also said that that wasn't the only weak part on it either. And he told me if it's not under warranty, it's really expensive to get fixed. So buyer beware! Also the vacuum bag in this Eureka 4870GZ is less than half the size of the one in our old Hoover vacuum cleaner. It's realy small! I bought our Hoover back in 1993 from Best Buy and it's still working really well today if that tells you anything about how well we treat our vacuums. My son is now using it in his apartment. It's something to consider when thinking about buying this vacuum. The person that wrote the review "MAJOR REPAIR ISSUES! STAY AWAY FROM THIS VACUUM!, October 19, 2007" Is dead on about this vacuum! I have come to the same conclusion about this vacuum as well. Please stay away from this vacuum and buy something else. Do your research first and foremost on anything you plan on spending a lot of money on!
