So, I've had the Roomba 400 for just about 3 months now. I like it very much and it works well in my small, cat-hair-filled-house. It is used twice a week for almost an hour each time and I'm always amazed at how much cat hair, dirt and dust it picks up. My house has never been this clean and, like a couple reviewers noted, my allergies seem more subdued this spring.
The source of all the cat hair doesn't mind the Roomba at all but does get out of its way. And, like other reviewers noted, it is not quiet. Not near as loud as a regular vacuum but definitely noisy; unless I'm right by the phone I can't hear it ring.
A couple things that might help a new owner;
1. I clean the Roomba after every use...takes a bit less than 5 minutes
2. I use a sewing thread cutter to help clean the hair off the rollers - works great!
3. It will get stuck on loose cords, rug tassels and even sometimes the corners or edges of rugs. Not a big deal to unstick it but I sure wouldn't run it unsupervised.
Would I buy it again? You bet.
